Treatments for TMJ disorders include Botox injections, oral appliances to wear while sleeping, stabilization splints, and lifestyle modifications.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

A first visit at our Central Park East–area office generally includes a dental cleaning, an oral examination, and, in some cases, a set of X-rays. If any areas of concern are found, your dentist will develop a treatment plan with you. Most cleaning appointments take less than an hour.

During the cleaning, you will meet with the dental hygienist, who removes major areas of plaque buildup using an ultrasonic device cooled by water, then uses hand tools and floss to remove anything remaining. Your teeth are then polished with a special paste, leaving the surfaces smooth and clean.

To make the most of your first visit, you can review our patient forms in advance and bring any questions about your dental history with you. Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with every patient who walks through our door, and that begins with the trust established on day one.

Do you offer extended hours? Yes. For your convenience, Minoli & Vijay begin seeing patients at 8:00 am. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we see patients until 6:00 pm.

Does insurance cover Invisalign? If your dental insurance provides orthodontic coverage, it often applies to Invisalign treatment. Check your policy for coverage limits or exclusions.

Does a root canal hurt? The area surrounding the tooth being treated is completely anesthetized, which makes the procedure virtually painless. Root canal therapy typically requires two to three visits, though the actual treatment time is often less than one hour. The purpose of the treatment is to save your natural tooth rather than extract it.

How long does a dental cleaning take? On average, a teeth cleaning appointment takes less than an hour. That short visit includes having your teeth cleaned and polished by a hygienist and an oral examination, and possibly X-rays.

I have dental anxiety. What can I expect? Tell our team before your appointment begins. We understand a dental visit can cause anxiety, and our practice is designed around a modern, comfortable environment with an emphasis on explaining each step of treatment. Our ultra-quiet electric handpieces and other current technologies are part of that comfort-focused approach.
